Beat the Defender 2
Develop Evasive Running Skills and improve defending
Drill Aims
To develop the skill of evasive running and defence.
Coaching Instructions
There are two equal lines of players, one attackers and the other
defenders. The attackers run around the right cone and the defenders on
the left. The attacker must score a try and try to avoid the defender.
The players should not kick the ball. The defender should aim to stop
the attacker from scoring. The defender and attacker should be evenly
matched. After a player is tackled they should both join the back of
the queue. The attacking and defending line should swap sides.
Variations
See Beat the Defender.
The coach can stand in front of the lines and pass the ball to
whichever player he wants to attack. Then the players can join the
other line after they have done the drill.
