Passing in a Line
Inject pace and improve hands
Drill Aims
A simple drill to improve handling skills for all the team.
Coaching Instructions
Players line up in 4 queues on the try line and the 22. They pass down
the line as shown. They should ensure the ball never goes forward and
that the players do not close the gap when receiving or passing. The
last player to receive the ball should concentrate running on to the
pass at speed. The drill should be repeated from both sides so that
players get to practice passing off both hands.
Variations
Variations can be introduced to practice more advanced skills. For
example, the players in the middle could switch or the 1st player can
miss pass to the 3rd who passes inside to the 2nd who then miss passes
to the 4th.
