Rolling Square
A simple drill that will improve alertness and hands
Drill Aims
A good warm-up to use before a match and to improve ground ball skills.
Coaching Instructions
Two players on the same side sprint to the opposite cone with the ball
and roll the ball gently towards the static player. They then loop to
the back of that line. The receiving player picks up the ball carefully
and sprints to the opposite corner rolling the ball from 2 metres away.
Variations
See Passing Square, Placing Square, Left/Right Pass Square.
The coach could call out commands such as "pop pass", "place the ball"
or "roll the ball", in which case the players will continue the drill
but carry out the order to the receiving player.
