Back Row Passing against Defence

A drill to practice back row passing against some opposition to increase the pressure

Drill Aims

A drill to simulate the back row peeling off the scrum with opposition.

Coaching Instructions

The players should pass the ball before the opposition tackle them. The ball should move swiftly. The defenders should move in from the top cone and aim to tackle the attackers to stop the pass. There should always be one more attacker than defenders.

Variations

The number of attackers and defenders can be varied. A similar drill can be done without opposition.
